Towards a New Sonic Language – Pip Greasley – UK

Pip Greasley has been devising soundtracks for immersive environments for over 25 years in electronic opera installations like the ‘5K Pursuit Opera’ and ‘The Last Broadcast’. Since 1999, he has created the music scores and sound design for many of the best known Full Dome shows including the award-winning ‘Astronaut’ (for the National Space Centre) and ‘STARS’ (for the Sudekom Planetarium, USA), which pioneered concepts such as ‘collateral sonics’ and the ‘fictive membrane’. He is currently writing the soundtrack for ‘To Space and Back’ for the US based SkySkan for release Spring 2013. Pip is a visiting lecturer at De Montfort University.

Soundtrack Production From Script to Screen – Michael Daut (E&S) – USA

Using our latest film, Robot Explorers 3D, as a case study, we will discuss the creative process in bringing the soundtrack to life throughout the production process, from development through delivery of the completed show. We will discuss music, sound design, narrator casting and recording, final mix, and technical issues related to fulldome production.

Immersive tools for an open community – SAT – Canada

After years of research in the field of immersion, construction of the first immersive theatre dedicated to cultural and social research and development, full year opened laboratory and production department dedicated to immersive works and contents, SAT place itself as a world leader in uncommon application of spherical imagery.

	Supervolcanoes is an immersive planetarium show that looks back at rare classes of eruptions that have marshaled the energy that lurks, like a sleeping dragon, beneath the surface of planet Earth. The program moves beyond Earth to Explore the impact of giant volcanic eruptions around our solar system.Audiences will fly down to Neptune’s frigid moon Triton, and the ultimate volcanic world: Jupiter’s moon Io. On a visit to a legendary North American hot spot, Yellowstone National Park, the film asks:can a supervolcano erupt in our time?
	Based on the life and work of the famous graphic artist M.C. Escher and his passion for astronomy, mathematics and science.
	DJ Food’s album released early 2012 on Ninja Tune was launched at the London Planetarium in Greenwich with an accompanying 45 minute show in their dome theatre. The visuals were made in collaboration with the astronomers in Greenwich and featured regular planetarium footage alongside custom made visuals by Strictly Kev aka DJ Food. After visually remixing and extending the show for a series of shows at the SATosphere in Montreal, Kev will present it at the annual Full Dome UK festival this November.
	We Are Aliens! explores the latest research in the search for extraterrestrial life. The film features input from UK scientists and attempts to answer the question, are we alone?
	Near the end of the twentieth century, we began launching unmanned probes into the far reaches of the solar system. What they discovered was amazing and in some cases unexpected. Now after dozens of probes have been deployed, the exploration continues. New space missions are underway, and many of these robust spacecraft are still operational, beaming their knowledge back to Earth every day. We will pay tribute to these robots who have explored in our place and experience what they have taught us about our solar system. Available in 3D and 2D.
